Ghee Cake Recipe – Fluffy & Soft

If you are craving cake and are out of butter, or don’t want to use butter because of dietary restrictions, this ghee cake recipe is a must-try.

As a baker myself, I have to admit ghee cake is easier to make as compared to all other types of cake. It only needs a few ingredients, and you get a super-moist, and fluffy tea cake ready in no time.

Having ghee cake with afternoon tea is a perfect way to warm your winter evenings. The classic cake only requires a few ingredients and it is super moist and full of pure bliss.

You can either serve the cake alone, without any toppings, but I like to serve the cake with homemade bourbon maple syrup and heavy cream. You can also top it off with lemon cream.

If you are planning to serve the cake without any topping for lunch, it goes well with chocolate tea, matcha latte, or coffee with heavy whipping cream.

You can either make batches of this cake and store it in your refrigerator. As the recipe is very quick and easy, I make fresh cakes whenever I’m craving it, and it’s so delicious that it doesn’t stay for long.

  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla syrup

  • You can take granulated sugar or crushed sugar as it dissolves quickly.
  • Add a pinch of salt to make the taste more delicious.
  • Don’t overmix the batter, and whisk it lightly.
  • You can serve the cake with strawberries or fresh fruit with cream.

Does ghee taste like butter?

Ghee tends to taste richer, cleaner, and more decadent version of butter. It tastes more buttery. That is why you can substitute butter with ghee in most recipes like cakes, brownies, cookies, and other recipes.

Ghee is substituted for butter in a 1-to-1 ratio. However, as ghee contains more moisture than butter, so you might need to alter the amount. However, for recipes that require cooking at high temperatures, ghee is a better substitute.
